Should work on any recent computer nevertheless □ NamingĪs Krita tagging system is sometimes capricious, every brush preset start with “Nylnook” to quickly find them. Most of them are in the Generic Pen pack, but you can find two in the Art Pen pack when Fuzzy Stroke is more intersting than controlled rotation.īrushes with a drop icon mix there colors with the color already on the canvas… so they feel “wet”.īrushes with mixing and rotation use more computing power than other brushes, especially when they are combined with textures. This allow to do thick and thin strokes, essentials for inking.īrushes with a G with an arrow icon for “Generic rotation” are brushes with emulated rotation which can work with any stylus, and rely on Krita features Drawing Angle Lock and Fuzzy Stroke. Small Iconsīrushes with a rotation icon for the Art Pen pack are meant to be used with a stylus supporting rotation like the Wacom Art Pen (the best stylus I know if you want my opinion). I usually use them on a large canvas (mininimum 2K)… so theses presets may look big on a smaller canvas. You should choose one of the bundle, and do not install or activate both of them, otherwise the Krita tagging system will be confused with brushes that are common to both packs. Manage Resources… > Import Bundle/Resource, and make sure the bundle is in the Active Bundles column on the left. If you have a Wacom Art Pen or similar, that support rotation, you will be interested by the Art Pen pack: ![]() They are free to use, under a Creative Commons Zero License ! What’s new in v2 ?įirst of all, now there are 2 packs, depending on your stylus : does it support rotation additionally to pressure and tilt ? Ironically after working with Krita more I have been using the old smudge technique less but this information may be useful.Time for update ! I’m happy to introduce 36 brushes presets for digital painting I crafted for and with Krita 3.0.1, used for my latest comic… This is version 2. These brushes are not as good as Corel Painters brushes were but they are more usable if you adjust the settings. Glad I read that bit- I guess for now a good thing to do is make a duplicate back up of the layer before you use overlay mode just in case.Īnother thing that helped me work with brushes that use this engine was turning down / adjusting the smudge length. ![]() It works by “picking up” bits of the layer underneath which may mess up the layer if you want to work on it again later. If you look on the documentation for this there are a few caveats however. It turns out there is a feature called overlay you can switch on in the brush settings for brushes using the color smudge engine which allows you to pick up the underlying colour from layers below. Recently I was doing some searching on the internet and someone had been inquiring about this. When I tried them on layers above they did not mix with the image below. The frustration I was having was I thought they only worked on one layer. The closest thing to the sort of brushes I used to use in Corel Painter in Krita are ones made with the colour smudge brush engine. I switched to using Krita though, I find Krita much nicer to work in than Corel Painter was and it comes without the ridiculous price tag and popup adverts. If you only work on one layer you can’t add more subtle blending graduations and glazes easily and it becomes a frustrating experience (at least in my opinion anyway). This was useful for more non-destructive type working and the ability to leverage layer opacity to make glazes that still appeared to mix on the image. I come from a background using a program called Corel Painter which had the ability in the last version I used (Corel Painter 2016) to work with blendy brushes on layers and still take colour information from layers below by picking up underlying colour. ![]()
